At Ark, we don’t leave social skills to chance, we teach them explicitly, progressively, and purposefully. Our evidence-based programme builds skills step by step: from foundational abilities like responding to name, waiting, turn-taking and self-introductions, to conversational skills, joining group play and cooperative teamwork. As children grow, we target higher-level competencies such as handling disagreements, coping with losing and demonstrating true sportsmanship. Through structured role-play, interactive games, and real-life group activities, children practise skills in meaningful situations with their peers.
Sessions are conducted in small groups by Ark's facilitators and supported by trained youth volunteers and neurotypical siblings who act as buddies and positive peer role models, creating authentic and guided social opportunities. While the learning environment is collaborative, each child works on clearly defined, individualised behavioural goals that are broken into measurable steps and tracked through ongoing data collection. The result? Confident, socially capable children equipped with practical skills they can carry into school, friendships, sports, and everyday life.
We offer dedicated social skills groups for children, youths, and adults, thoughtfully integrated with recreational sports, visual and performing arts, and targeted daily living skills. Each programme is designed to make social learning practical, engaging, and transferable to real life, not just within the classroom, but in school, work, and the community.
As a social impact organisation, we are committed to keeping intervention accessible. We offer income-tiered fees at a fraction of typical private intervention costs, and tap on available grants wherever possible to reduce the financial burden on families. This model is made sustainable through the strong support of our trained facilitators and volunteers, who play an active role in facilitating inclusion and peer engagement, allowing us to deliver quality, evidence-based programmes while remaining affordable and community-driven.
